This visor has been developed to improve the performance of arc flash face protection in everyday use. It combines certified arc flash protection with thoughtful design features that focus on visibility, comfort, balance and usability. Rather than simply meeting the standard, it has been designed to improve the overall wearing experience.
At the centre of the design is the Toric shape. This is a major point of difference and one of the key reasons the visor stands out. The Toric profile delivers a wide peripheral view, excellent downward vision and reduced internal glare. These are practical benefits workers will notice immediately. In electrical environments, users need to see more than what is directly in front of them. They need awareness of the space around them, a clear view of tools and equipment below eye level, and a visor that does not distract them with unnecessary reflections.
The lens also plays a critical role. The ArcSafe® Toric AmpShield™ uses a highly transparent, grey, nearly clear HT™ nanoparticle polycarbonate face shield designed to provide enhanced visibility and heightened colour recognition. This helps create a clearer, more natural view of the task and supports better identification of labels, controls and wiring colours. In indoor environments or mixed lighting conditions, this kind of clarity can make a real difference to user confidence.
The shield also includes an integrated transparent chin protector, protecting from hazards from below, such as debris and splash. This adds important extra coverage while maintaining visibility and keeping the overall design streamlined.
Comfort has also been engineered into the system. The Patented ArcVent™ system enhances ventilation, helping improve airflow and reduce the hot, enclosed feeling that can make some visors uncomfortable over time. Another standout feature is the weight-compensating slotted cap bracket, designed to suit the MSA V-Gard hard hat only. This helps reduce the imbalance felt when the visor is stowed above the head. By improving balance in the stowed position, the ArcSafe® Toric AmpShield™ supports comfort not only when the shield is down, but throughout the whole working day.
The LeverLock® attachment system makes shield replacement easier, while press-to-release slotted adaptors simplify bracket removal. There is also the option to add an optional Streamlight® flashlight on either side of the visor for greater flexibility in low-light conditions.
